The LEDs aren’t turning on. What should I check?
Make sure the device is powered using the included 12V 3A power supply and that the 37-pin bed cable is securely connected. If the room is dark, the light sensor may have dimmed the LEDs — increase ambient light to test.
Can I change what the function button does?
Yes. The built-in dynamic button is programmable and can be set to trigger custom workflows based on your facility’s needs.
What types of connections are supported?
HighLight supports both 37-pin and 1/4” plug-ins for bed connection, nurse call output, call cords, and accessories — all routed through seven input/output ports.
How do I know if the bed is connected properly?
The LED indicator will glow green when connected and red when disconnected — providing clear visibility to the care team at a glance.
Is HighLight compatible with any bed or nurse call system?
Yes. HighLight is designed to work universally with any bed type and any 37-pin or 1/4” based nurse call infrastructure.
Mounting
Mount HighLight to a single gang wall opening or flat headwall surface using the included bracket and hardware. Position it for clear visibility by the care team and away from potential bed impact zones. Snap the device into place once the bracket is secured.
Connecting
● Connect the bottom 37-pin port to the nurse call system.
● Connect the front 37-pin port to the bed.
● Optional: Use the side 1/4” jacks for Priority and Routine call accessories.
● Plug in the included 12V 3A power supply to activate the unit.
Power & LED Behavior
Once powered, the LED will display:
● Green = Bed connected● Red = Bed disconnected
Brightness auto-adjusts based on ambient light.
How does ComCierge connect to nurse call? A unit called the SmartHub plugs into the same port that your pillow speaker plugs in, and sends the same commands, all from the patientʼs tablet or phone.
Can we still use the pillow speaker? Yes, ComCierge can run alongside your existing pillow speakers using a splitter.
Where do the messages and requests go? If a request can be placed on your existing pillow speaker (like Pain or Water), it will follow the same exact workflow – illuminating the dome light and displaying at the nurse terminals. All other requests can be sent to an app on nurse devices, or to your existing nurse workflow software.
Can patients use other apps alongside? Yes – ComCierge is designed to be one app amongst other entertainment, education, meal ordering and healthcare apps used on the hospital iPad.
How does a patient access ComCierge on their own phone? ComCierge can be downloaded as an app for hospital owned iPads, or accessed on a web browser for personal devices via a QR code or a pre-admission link.
Is an EHR connection required? No – most ComCierge do not require EHR, however it is required for personalized care features including care team information, automatic device wiping between patients and
Which nurse call systems does ComCierge work with? Rauland Responder 4 & 5, Hillrom and Westcom.
How does the video feature work? Care team members can initiate a video call to the patient from their own device, a nurse station iPad or a HallMonitor. The patient is prompted (even if the ComCierge app is not open), and given the choice to accept or reject the call.
ComCierge Patient Search for “HatchMed” on the App Store, and download the “ComCierge Patient” app (red icon with a cross in the middle). Use the provided log in on the home screen, it will follow the format of “patient@facility.com”. Select which room to assign this device to and select your preferred language to start.
Note: ComCierge Patient is only available for iPads, and an internet connection is required for use.
ComCierge BYOD Simply scan the QR code matching the appropriate patient room, and the device will be automatically connected to the roomʼs nurse call system.
ComCierge CareTeam Search for “HatchMed” on the App Store, and download the “ComCierge CareTeam” app (blue icon with a cross in the middle). Use the provided log in on the home screen, it will follow the format of “charge@facility.com”. Manage supervised rooms by clicking the “Bays” tab on the right, click “Manage Bays”, and select the appropriate patient rooms.
